First 2026 AmCup Scores and Report

Seems like I just got back from Fab Feb but we are well into the 2026 AmCup season. The first 5 of the currently scheduled 34 contests are complete. Four of the the 2025 first place winners are in the lead: F1A- Jama Danier in a tie with Guy Goldstein, F1B- Reema Bharadwaj, F1P- Emrick Smith and F1S- Jack Murphy.  The chase is on!

The King Orange of 2025 was a one time contest as it is sadly no longer being flown.  The NYAA contest last weekend at Perris CA has been added. As I have not heard otherwise, all the remaining contests from the 2025 seasons have been carried over.  The AmCup Rules limit the total number of contest to 36. We are currently at 33 contests so there is room for more. Contact me if interested in running a new AmCup contests. The best addition would be at fields with less than 3 current AmCup contests.

We have received several AmCup fee payments, thank you. The fees, still just $30, are due by April fools day 2026. For the unpaid, please send a check made out to Terry Kerger to: Terry Kerger 709 Domingo Dr, San Gabriel, CA  91775.

There are no rule changes for 2026. We did receive one proposal which was discussed at a SCAT meeting and sent out to the AmCup review group. The proposal in part sought to clarify / codify for AmCup contests the F1Q Joule-motor run rules. While the goal is admirable, we believe the AmCup program is not the correct avenue to drive run changes. The proposal was denied. To my understanding, the USA- Canadian flyer’s preference / consensus is regular rounds with 2 J/gr, 20 sec motor run. This needs to be pre-advertised (i.e. contest flyer, SEN post) to be FAI compliant. This responciblity falls to the CD- club running each contest.

We tried Gabby’s as the venue for the 2025 AmCup awards, all in all it went well, a bit cold– a bigger fire for 2026? Send me comments if you please.
