Passing of Matt Gewain
From: Ed Carroll

Roger,
I just heard from Matt Gewain’s wife that he passed away April 26th.  His wish was to have his ashes scattered at the Lost Hills field.
Matt and I became quite close friends in the last few years.  He helped me prepare for the team selection in 2016 by helping me with test flying sessions in which he offered advice on the flight patterns and did all the chasing.  Matt not only had a keen eye for power patterns, but also helped me with fine tuning of the glide.  Then when it came time for the actual team selection competition, Matt came to Lost Hills and chased every flight.  That was the year I first made the team.  I shall think of Matt fondly and may his eternal rest be peaceful.
Please post on SEN.
Best,
Eddie Carroll

Matt was the F1A World Champ 1983 and a long time SCAT Member. Innovator in F1A, F1C and electronic timers.  He was a retired Air Force officer and engineer.

Our sympathies to his friends and family.
