About Time News

At the North American F1B Fly Off, former World Champ Jerry Fitch sportingly used his Altimeter to prove that he did NOT win the F1B.  Jerry was given a winning time that sounded a bit too good for him so gave the organizer what the altimeter said putting him down in 14 th place

The About time results that were sent in are at https://abouttime.flyingneurons.io/  select the day you want to look at from the calendar pull down on the left , tap the magnifying glass icon on the right to bring up the list.  Looking at the graphs for the 3 F1B sportsmen who sent their times in for NA FO you will see 3 straight lines showing the perfect dead air conditions.

USA F1A sportsman Brian Van Nest seems to be good at finding special cases. His first round flight on the North American.  What this shows at the very end of the flight an increase in altitude.  Not what you would expect. This   end of flight is in the quarry just on the edge of Holloway Rd.  When you look at the of flight coordinates at the bottom of the graph. When you click on that it brings up Google Maps and the satellite view shows the edge of the quarry. So the last few moments before and Brian’s F1A was slope soaring on the edge of the quarry !

Some on board timers provide a power feed for a tracker. The error log from the Mini-Neuron has noted some circumstances when the power has been cut off by a Sidus F1B timer. We suspect that this is a some form of inactivity time out. Frederic from Flying Neurons is going to check this with Massimo from Sidus.
