NFFS Activities

From: David Lindley
As Gene Ulm noted in the recent SEN, NFFS membership has continued to RISE even through COVID. Those NFFS memberships mean everything to the community and the hobby. This year alone (2022), NFFS will donate in excess of $20k to junior programs and scholarships, ensuring we hand down the love of this hobby to the next generation.

Are YOU a NFFS member? Consider joining today! We also offer a digital membership that includes an electronic copy of the Free Flight Digest if you don’t want magazines stacking up!

Hatcheck – International Challenge

Wawaywanda NY, May 21-22 2022
The weekend was mostly windy, turbulent and very hot on Sunday. All flying was done from the south road. There are no crops on the west and north sides and no models flew off the field. The FAC guys held a large contest over the weekend and they located themselves further up field to the west. On Sunday, Dave Acton’s modeling equipment and tools were offered for adoption.

My small Q model, flying with a 15 second motor run, got tossed over into a canal by a gust on it’s fifth flight. It probably time for a replacement. Sunday started dead calm, so the B max was raised to 6 minutes on the fist flight. Immediately after Alex maxed, the wind and turbulence stepped up. The A guys were more sensible and angled for a 4-minute max on their first flight. Subsequent maxes were at 2:30 or 3 minutes. It’s was nice to have Jama and Alex displaying their superb flying skills in windy conditions.
