About UnZapping Fliers

We got some correspondence following on from the piece from Aram in the last SEN. We have grouped that at the beginning of This  SEN.
All the sections ?

From: Ian Kaynes
Roger
The rule that Aram fails to quote is C.19.1.1 (d) All competitors making use of a model, equipment, or fuel which does not conform, in all aspects to the rules and regulation of the event or which have not been verified by the organiser shall be disqualified from the contest.

From the editor

To avoid any conclusion here is section 19.1.1

The full section from the sporting code.
C.19.1.1 Range of penalties imposed by the Contest Director with the consent of the FAI Jury
The severity of the penalties imposed may range from a minimum loss of points to disqualification, as appropriate to the offence.

a) Technical Infringements. Unless a different penalty is detailed in the dedicated Sporting Code Section 4 Volumes, technical infringements of rules or failure to comply with requirements caused by mistake or oversight, where no advantage has been gained or could have been gained by the competitor concerned should, as a guide, carry penalties leading to a reduction of not less than 2 % of the best score or maximum available score for the task.
b) Serious Infringements. Unless a different penalty is detailed in the dedicated Sporting Code Section 4 Volumes, serious infringements, including dangerous or hazardous actions or repetitions of lesser infringements should, as a guide, carry minimum penalties leading to a reduction of not less than 5 % of the best score or maximum score for the task.
c) Unsporting behaviour. Cheating or unsporting behaviour, should, as a guide, result in disqualification from an event of the participant(s) concerned.

Cheating or unsporting behaviour by any member of a national team may lead to disqualification from an event for the entire team, where appropriate, and not only for the member of the team concerned.
Any person disqualified from an event has no right to claim back any part of the entry fee, and will not be eligible for any diploma, medal or prize awarded for the event.

d) All competitors making use of a model, equipment or fuel which does not conform in all respects to the rules and regulations of the event or which have not been verified by the organiser shall be disqualified from the contest.

from Ed
In my reading of the above it seem that using a model that was physically outside the specification is clearly against the item (d).  I did wonder what kind of infringement might be permitted.  I looked at the Sporting Code and noted for F1A the section on launching the model with 3 sub parts.

3.1.12. Organisation of Launching
a) The competitor must be on the ground and must operate the launching device himself (jumping allowed).
b) All freedom of action and movement is permitted to allow the best use of the cable, except throwing of the launching device.
c) The model must be launched within approximately 5 metres from the starting position marker.

Looking at item c It would seem that model could certainly be launched 4 or 6 or metres from the starting position without penalty.  Where it could possibly be a problem is if a person made an attempt and was quite some distance from the starting positions when they came to relaunch

Re: SEN 3155 – Non-Starter

Reply to Aram
I think your argument is a  non starter .
A specification that defines a Maximum and a Minimum in weight or Area is not a target It’s a bit like speeding exceeding the roads speed limit over and it’s offence simple !
It’s up to the competitor to ensure that their model complies to the specifications so never go to close Its up to the competitor to ensure they have incorporated a margin of error for measurement inaccuracy as well as being definitively in specification
There is no point adding a percentage of error as acceptable to specifications as competitors will just add these dimensions to their own model dimensions weight etc
