guys,

Had the day off with the wife and kids out of state so I made some progress on my Baby Bee 40 "Tepid Cocoa". As you can tell by the invasion stripes, its an homage to Hardy Brodersen.

Fuselage is a box made from 3/32" sheet. Its a straight taper from 1 1/4" x 1 1/2" to 1/2" x 1/4". Pylon is 1/8" sheet. I went witt this construction in order to reduce weight at the tail so I could move the wing as far forward as possible. Have not bolted on an engine yet, and will finish the pylon as soon as I do some rough balancing. 65% CG sound good??

Wing is 8" root, 6" tips 9.5% flat bottom tapering to 8.5%. Stab is 4" x 17" with a 7% flat bottom with high point at 25% instead of 33%. Very simple construction with spruce spars top and bottom (stab top only).

I installed a Seelig DT timer because 1.) I hate fuses 2.) I have lots of Seelig DT timers 3.) if we decide to allow timers for engine cut off, I will install a minicombo using engine and DT function only.

wing 55 g
stab 10 g
fuse 80 g (+/- 5g)
eng. 57 g
total 202 g ...right on target. I still think 250 g is a bit to heavy so I will ballast up if need be.

After years of building rubber models with union jack rib patterns using 1/32" sheet this thing was a breeze to build. Its much like a P-30 in construction, just larger.
