Joe,
I saw the NFFS new web site for the first time this AM. I am impressed and you are to be congratulated and THANKED by us out here in the hinterland. I stopped competing a couple of years ago because of health reasons, and was never very active except locally, but I campaigned a 200 " Top Banana for quite awhile using the power and fuel setup that you describe in the proposal for this new event.
I had a Baby Bee with a hole drilled in the side of the tank, and used an insulin syringe for a timer. I got pretty adept at using this, but the actual running time was contingent on how I set the engine, which was the tricky part. Alot of times I would not get the full time allotted, but seldom did I get an overrun. Luckily, the plane only weighed 5.25 oz, so I could max pretty easily with less than a full time allotment, especially if I picked air.
I think the rules, using the eye dropper method would be just fine and I would fly the event for the pure fun of it. If a postal contest comes about, let me know, because I think I could get a few guys from around here to join in the fun.
