The National Freeflight Society launches a major new intiative with the first issue of the eDigest and the first full-color print edition. Here on the cover of the new publication Jesse Shepherd, of Ft. Worth Texas, holds the late Ed Turner's original FAI Power model "Eros." Turner built the Eros in the late sixities and it languished for years after his death in the 1990s. Shepherd refurbished and recovered the elegant model, and it recently made its successful maiden flight. Eros is available from NFFS plans.

Canadian flier Jim Moseley launching his original design "Ellipsis 150" at last August's Empire State Free Flight Championships at Geneseo.
The "Ellipsis" was inspired by a model he built 24 years ago called the "Baby Toots," a tiny 29 square inch ship published in a 1950 Model Airplane News article. This present incarnation has a span of 28 inches powered by six strands of quarter inch rubber driving a 16-inch single blade folder that gives the model a motor run of 80-85 second. The model weighs 51 grams. Photo courtesy of Bob Clemens.
