Announcement, February 1st, 2005
The National Free Flight Society and its Indoor Subcommittee are pleased to announce the Indoor National Cup Program with annual competitions to begin in 2005. We wish to thank Bob Perkins for suggesting the program and helping to establish the rules. The Subcommittee would also like to recognize Rex Hinson and the NFFS for sponsoring the event, to improve the overall participation in indoor flying across the country.
The Indoor National Cup Program is a points based program that will allow competitors from all across the country to earn points at local, regional, and national competitions in a race to earn the most points and be awarded the Indoor National Cup at the end of the year. There are two Junior Cups, and two senior/Open Cups, for a total of four cups.
The Cups are broken down into two classes for each age group, Indoor Rubber Duration, and Indoor Glider. A complete explanation of the events, rules, and scoring is included in the competition rules, which can be downloaded from the NFFS website at www.freeflight.org .
The administrator of the Indoor National Cup Program is Jim Buxton. Don Slusarczyk will be the Associate Administrator. If you do not have internet access to download the Indoor National Cup rules and Forms, you may contact the Administrator for printed copies at the address listed.
The National Cup program has been a great success with the outdoor community, and we are certain that it will be equally well received indoors. There are already two sanctioned Indoor National Cup Contests at the writing of this announcement. The Midwestern States Indoor Championships in Champaign, Illinois on April 2nd and 3rd, and the Cleveland Free Flight Society Indoor Contest in Kent, Ohio on April 10th. Be sure to get your contest signed up as a National Cup contest! There is no sanctioning fee involved, but the contest must be a sanctioned AMA contest. Contact Jim Buxton at the address lusted to get information about adding a contest to the National Cup Program.
Once again, on behalf of the NFFS, the Indoor Subcommittee invites you to participate in this exciting new program. If you have any questions or comments about the Indoor National Cups please contact one of the Administrators, or any of the NFFS Indoor Subcommittee members.
Jim Buxton, Indoor Subcommittee Chairman.
