VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES
NFFS need volunteers for our educational activities and we need to document and give credit to volunteers who are ready helping in the effort to grow the next generation of free flight enthusiasts. Here is how you can help.
If you are currently mentoring youth activities, contact us. For most free flight activities, contact Rocco Ferrario at the address below and tell Rocco what you are doing and how we can help you in your activities. If you are mentoring in the Science Olympiad program, contact Ray Harlin.
Why Is This Important?
NFFS is aware that many members mentor youth. But, much of this activity
goes undocumented. NFFS Education is actively seeking outside funding and
partners. If we can demonstrate a high level of activity in youth education
it will significantly increase our chances of finding financial support. Our
efforts to interest outside partners will not only help the educational efforts
of NFFS, it can potentially help us find flying sites.
What You Can Do
The National Model Aviation Program (NMAP)
is being revised to fit the NFFS culture. We need to document and reward ALL
youth flying activity and show our Junior and Senior members that NFFS supports
their activities. You do not need a formal NMAP program to participate in
NMAP. You do not need to form a youth club to participate. But, we DO need
to know about your activities so that we can help. Documenting existing educational
activities will help further NFFS' long term educational goals.
